The Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced today that Hong Kong's official foreign-currency reserve assets amounted to US$112.6 billion at the end of July.
This is US$1.8 billion less than at the end of June, when they amounted to US$114.4 billion.
In terms of foreign-currency reserves ranking, Hong Kong is the world's fifth-largest holder of foreign-currency reserves, after Japan, the Mainland, Taiwan and Korea.
The total foreign-currency reserve assets represent about seven times the currency in circulation or about 43% of Hong Kong dollar M3.
