Qualifications Register ready next year

Principal Assistant Secretary for Education Daniel Cheng
At your fingertips: Principal Assistant Secretary for Education Daniel Cheng shows the Qualifications Register prototype at the Info Expo.

The Qualifications Register - a centralised online database of accredited study courses - will be in full operation early next year, offering a quick and easy way for people to search for quality-assured courses, the Education Bureau says. The register prototype is available here.

Principal Assistant Secretary for Education Daniel Cheng said at the Info Expo for Secondary School Leavers 2007 today that youths have more education opportunities and choices of subjects if they want to pursue further studies.

Apart from Secondary 6, Secondary 7 and university degree courses, secondary school students can choose to study pre-associate degree, associate degree, higher diploma and professional diploma programmes.

In addition to traditional arts and science subjects, vocational-oriented programmes in areas such as hotels, tourism, transport and aviation are also available. Students can choose their own path based on their academic results and interests.

The Info Expo, organised by the bureau and joined by more than 20 education and vocational training institutions, is being staged at Olympian City 2 today and tomorrow. An exhibition and joint registration for Project Yi Jin will be held on August 11 and 12 at the International Trade & Exhibition Centre in Kowloon Bay.

Details on other services for Secondary 5 school leavers are available here.
