A team of secondary-school students has won one gold and three bronzes for Hong Kong at the 18th International Olympiad Informatics 2006 in Merida, Mexico.
The Olympiad was held last week with 78 teams of up to four members participating.
Lam Chi-kit from Saint Joseph's College won a gold medal in the game while La Salle College's Chu Li-yu and Hui Yan-ting, and South Tuen Mun Government Secondary School's Yim Wing-yin received bronze medals.
As one of the eight International Science Olympiads, the game is the most recognised worldwide computer science competition for secondary students under 20 years of age.
Each participant is given a range of problems and tasks to demonstrate their problem-solving skills and programming techniques by designing and writing computer programmes.
