An Exhibition and Joint Registration for Project Yi Jin will be held at the Hong Kong Productivity Council on Tat Chee Avenue in Kowloon Tong this weekend from 10am to 6pm.
Seven member institutions of the Federation for Continuing Education in Tertiary Institutions will set up counters to introduce their programmes. Students can submit on-site applications for full-time programmes.
To move forward with developments in society and students' interests, new electives such as banking management, performing arts, sport science, insurance, telecommunications, 3D game and mobile game design will be offered under Project Yi Jin in 2004/05.
Full certificate comparable to 5 passes in HKCEE
The Education & Manpower Bureau said Project Yi Jin is a scheme targeting students with different abilities and aspirations. More than 14,600 students have pursued the programme over the past four years.
Students completing the programme will be awarded a full certificate which has been assessed by the Hong Kong Council for Academic Accreditation as comparable to five passes in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination.
According to findings of a survey on graduates, the programme has helped the students lay a good foundation and prepared them for further studies or work. It has also helped them improve their self-image, confidence and interpersonal relationships.
Needy students can get 100% reimbursement
Students will be reimbursed 30% of the tuition fee paid for each satisfactorily completed module. Needy students who pass the means test for full financial assistance will be reimbursed 100% of the tuition fee paid.
Applicants can fill in a form and submit it together with an application fee of $200 in cash at the counters at the exhibition venue.
For those unable to apply in person, an authorised person bringing along a photocopy of the applicant's identity card can submit the completed application form on his/her behalf.
Places are not offered on a first-come, first-served basis. All applications will be processed at the end of the Joint Registration period and applicants will be informed of the result by post on August 23 at the latest.
