Council chairmen of CityU & PolyU named
*

The Chief Executive has appointed Dr Gordon Wu and Victor Lo to chair the councils of the City and Polytechnic Universities respectively. Both appointments are effective from January 1 for three years.

Dr Wu will succeed retiring CityU Chairman Norman Leung. Noting he has been the PolyU Council Chairman for more than six years, the Government said he is familiar with the developments of the higher education sector in Hong Kong and experienced in university governance.

His appointment to CityU will no doubt provide the strong leadership the university needs to sustain its development.

On Mr Lo's appointment, the Government said he is a suitable candidate to lead PolyU as it aspires to scale new heights in the years to come.

Mr Lo has rich experience in public services. He is the Chairman of Board of Directors of the HK Science & Technology Parks Corporation and the Honorary President of the Federation of HK Industries General Committee.

Mr Lo was a member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee, HK Trade Development Council and HK Productivity Council.

He was also active in community service in the education sector and was the Deputy Chairman of the Lingnan University Council in the early 1990s, and a member of the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund Council.

The Government thanked Mr Leung for his contributions and dedication during his tenure. He will retire from the university council after December 31.
