The University of Hong Kong's Assistant Professor Dr Cheung Kwok-wah has been appointed as the Chairman of the Education & Manpower Bureau's Committee on Home-School Co-operation with effect from September 1.
He will succeed Dr Tsang Kit-man for a term of two years ending August 31, 2005.
Dr Cheung, a father of three, is an Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Education at the University of Hong Kong and has been a committee member since September 2000.
He is currently the Chief Editor of "Hong Kong Teachers' Centre Journal", and was a member of the bureau's Education Reform Liaison Team from 2000 to 2002.
Commenting on his appointment, Permanent Secretary for Education & Manpower Fanny Law believes that the committee under Dr Cheung's leadership will scale new heights in deepening home-school co-operation and enhancing education quality.
The bureau also announced the appointment of seven new committee members today.
Mrs Law was glad that Dr Tsang Kit-man has accepted re-appointment as a committee member. She also extended her heartfelt thanks to eight outgoing members for their invaluable efforts in promoting home-school co-operation in previous years.
The new committee will comprise a total of 20 members from different walks of life, including full-time parents as wells as professionals in the education, clinical psychology, legal, accountancy, parent education, broadcasting, medical and commercial sectors.
