The Leisure & Cultural Services Department will stage the Corporate Games 2003 later this year to promote a healthy and energetic community and help businesses boost employee morale.
The event, to be held between July and January, covers a range of sports such as badminton, snooker, basketball, 11-a-side soccer, seven-a-side mini-soccer, distance running, table-tennis, volleyball, and track and field events.
Details of the Games are available at the department's website, www.lcsd.gov.hk. The deadline for enrolment is May 19.
Winners of each sports event will receive trophies while the organisation with the highest accumulated score will be named the overall champion.
An organisation that wins the championship for three consecutive years can keep the trophy permanently.
Since its launch in 1990, the Corporate Games has gained popularity among the workforce. The number of participating organisations rose to 239 in 2002, more than a five-fold increase from the 45 who joined in in 1990. More than 11,000 people took part in the 2002 games.
