Anthony Lau has been appointed Tourism Board Executive Director with Daisy Lam as deputy. Their appointments take effect August 1 and September 1.
Secretary for Economic Development & Labour Stephen Ip said they have extensive experience in marketing and management.
Tourism Board Chairman James Tien said their deep knowledge of the local and international markets and their superb management skills will help the board market and promote Hong Kong worldwide, and meet new challenges and opportunities amid intensified competition in the global tourism market.
"They will lead the organisation to even closer collaboration with travel-trade partners, and help strengthen Hong Kong's position as one of the world's premier destinations," he said.
Biographies
Mr Lau is Philip Morris Singapore General Manager. After graduating from the University of Toronto with a degree in business administration in 1985, he joined Philip Morris Asia in 1986, and oversaw the company's product marketing and business development. During his 20-year career with the company, he held a range of senior management positions, including Director of Sales & Marketing and General Manager, for different markets, and worked in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Indonesia.
Mrs Lam graduated from Hong Kong University in 1977 and is currently Octopus Cards' Operations Director. Before joining Octopus in 2003, Mrs Lam worked for international corporations including Cathay Pacific and the Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank, responsible for market development and operations management.
