The term of appointment will be from April 1 to December 31, 2006, which ties in with the current term of the Sports Commission.

Dr Ho said the committees will continue to play a pivotal role in identifying and addressing key issues that were important for the long term sports development in Hong Kong.

"The extensive knowledge and experience of members are instrumental in helping the Government formulate sport policies and programmes that respond to the needs of the community in a timely manner," he said.

"With the wide network of members on the three committees, the Sports Commission will be in a better position to mobilise better community participation in building a sporting culture for Hong Kong."
