Electors urged to report address changes
*

Electors are urged to report any change of address by August 29 so they can vote in the correct constituency in the District Council Election in November.

For those who have moved home recently, they can check the 2003 provisional register of electors for geographical constituencies to see if their address is current and correct.

To report a new address, they can simply complete an REO-1 form and send it to the Registration & Electoral Office. The form can be downloaded from the office's website or obtained from any District Office.

For those who are named on the omissions list for not reporting their change of address, they should also report their new address to the office if they want to have their elector status reinstated in the final register.

The final register will be published on September 25, after the provisional register is open for public inspection from August 15 to 29.

An elector's address, as recorded in the final register, is the basis for assigning a constituency to themr. An incorrect address can lead to a mismatched constituency or even deny an elector the opportunity to vote.

New applicants whose names are not featured in the provisional register, and registered electors who are erroneously included in the omissions list, may appeal by lodging a notice of claim.

Objections against any person's registration as an elector can be made by lodging a notice of objection.

Registered electors can call 2891 1001 to check their records or visit the following places during office hours to inspect the provisional register and the omissions list:

* The Registration & Electoral Office, 10/F, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai; and,

* The Public Enquiry Services Centres of the District Offices

Forms for making claims or objections are available at the above offices or can be downloaded from the office's website. Completed forms should reach the office by August 29.
