Timetable proposed for pay-level survey
*

The Government wants to start a civil-service pay-level survey next month and finish it by the end of September, Secretary for the Civil Service Joseph Wong says.

Hosting the second meeting of the Working Group on Civil Service Pay Adjustment & Related Issues today, Mr Wong discussed with representatives of the major staff associations the timetable for conducting a pay-level survey.

There was a great expectation in the community that the Government and civil service should work together to resolve the issue as soon as possible, he noted.

Mr Wong said the next meeting of the Working Group would be the final meeting at the present stage. He hopes the meeting will draw specific conclusions. He will then compile a progress report to the Chief Executive.

He stressed that the Government would ultimately make a decision on the issue, which would be in the best interest of the community and the civil service.
