HK sees 3.6k virus cases

October 1, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is looking into 3,681 additional locally acquired COVID-19 cases, of which 914 were identified through nucleic acid tests and 2,767 via rapid antigen tests.

Separately, 226 imported cases were detected.

Furthermore, three residential care homes for the elderly logged four virus cases involving their residents.

Meanwhile, two classes were advised to suspend face-to-face classes for seven days due to COVID-19 cases.

In addition to reporting that six more patients passed away in public hospitals due to the coronavirus disease, the Hospital Authority registered eight more critical patients, bringing the number of patients in critical condition to 36.

Due to a number of positive cases, 76 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice. It also covers four specified premises in Ma On Shan and Shau Kei Wan where some sewage samples tested positive for the virus.

The Government will reopen the mobile specimen collection stations at Chuk Yuen North Estate in Wong Tai Sin and Park Island in Ma Wan tomorrow, while the specimen collection station at Wang Tau Hom Estate in Lok Fu will extend services until next Monday.

Since there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several areas of Sham Shui Po and Sha Tin districts, the Housing Department and respective district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.
