3.8k local COVID-19 cases reported

September 26, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is looking into 3,846 additional locally acquired COVID-19 cases, of which 1,002 were identified through nucleic acid tests and 2,844 via rapid antigen tests.

Separately, 188 imported cases were detected.

Additionally, two residential care homes for disabled people logged two virus cases involving their residents.

There were also 1,280 positive cases, involving 1,116 students and 164 staff, filed by 687 schools.

Due to a number of positive cases, 56 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice. It also covers nine specified premises in Sai Wan Ho, Tai Po, Lam Tin, Tseung Kwan O and Sha Tin where some sewage samples tested positive for the virus.

The Government will reopen the mobile specimen collection stations at Hing Man Estate in Chai Wan, Shek Pai Wan Estate in Southern District, Tak Keung Court in Lok Fu and Cheung Shan Estate in Tsuen Wan tomorrow.

Since there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several areas in Yuen Long, Tsuen Wan, Wong Tai Sin and Eastern districts, the respective district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.
