Secretary for Transport & Logistics Lam Sai-hung (centre) speaks at the Spirit of the President’s Important Speech session.

Secretary for Transport & Logistics Lam Sai-hung shared with the participants of a session today how to apply what they learnt from President Xi Jinping's speech in their work by living up to the people's expectations.

Around 110 colleagues of the Transport & Logistics Bureau and its departments attended the session.

Mr Lam said the "four musts" and four proposals raised by President Xi in his important speech delivered at the inaugural ceremony of the sixth-term Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government set out a high-level visionary guidance for Hong Kong's future development.

"When President Xi sheds light on the point that Hong Kong should maintain its distinctive status and advantages, he reiterates the central government’s full support to the city in the effort to maintain its distinctive status and edges, boost its presence as an international financial, shipping and trading centre, keep its business environment free, open and regulated and maintain the common law, so as to expand its exchanges with the world.

“We must leverage the staunch support of the country towards Hong Kong to expand our scope for further development by giving full play to our unique strengths. We must not let down our country as it has all along been showing care and support for the city.”

The transport chief emphasised that Hong Kong's international airport and port facilities are among the best in the world and have been renowned for their high efficiency, strong connectivity and extensive coverage.

The Government will put forward more policies and initiatives, and work closely with the industry to further enhance Hong Kong's competitiveness in sea, land and air transport and logistics as well as enhancing its international connectivity, he added.
