Over 2.6k COVID-19 cases detected

July 6, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating 2,672 additional locally acquired COVID-19 cases, of which 1,021 were directly identified through nucleic acid tests and 1,651 via rapid antigen tests (RATs) that were verified.

Separately, 143 imported cases were recorded.

There were also 239 virus cases reported from 209 schools as a result of the daily RAT requirement for students and staff.

The centre advised several schools to suspend face-to-face lessons for specific classes for a week due to the higher proportion of infections discovered within the class.

Due to a number of positive cases, 68 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice.

The notice also covers five buildings in Sai Wan Ho, Quarry Bay, Chai Wan, Tsing Yi and Tuen Mun where some sewage samples tested positive for the virus.

People subject to compulsory testing may receive free testing at community testing centres or mobile specimen collection stations.

Meanwhile, the Government made a restriction-testing declaration to cover Wah Shing House of Fung Shing Court in Tai Wai, requiring people in the restricted area to undergo compulsory testing before the specified deadline.

As there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several estates in Tuen Mun, Kwun Tong and Wong Tai Sin districts, the Housing Department and respective district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.
