HK reports over 1k local virus cases

June 21, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is looking into 1,076 additional locally acquired COVID-19 cases, of which 429 were directly identified through nucleic acid tests and 647 via rapid antigen tests which were verified.

Separately, 122 imported cases were reported.

The centre also received notifications of 177 positive cases from 144 schools, comprising 143 students and 34 school staff.

Meanwhile, the Government made a restriction-testing declaration to cover Block 10 of Yuet Wu Villa in Tuen Mun, requiring people in the restricted area to undergo compulsory testing before the specified deadline.

Due to a number of positive cases, 26 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice.

The notice also includes four buildings where some sewage samples tested positive for the virus, namely Man Hei House of Chun Man Court in Ho Man Tin, Wang Shing House of Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, Hong Lai House of Hong Yat Court in Lam Tin and Tat Yan House of Po Tat Estate in Sau Mau Ping.

The Food & Health Bureau reminds members of the public that due to a power supply incident in the Yuen Long area, the operating hours of the community testing centres and mobile specimen collection stations in Tuen Mun, Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai may be affected.

As there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several housing estates and buildings in Tuen Mun, Tai Po, Eastern, Central & Western districts, the Housing Department and respective district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.
