971 local COVID-19 cases recorded

June 15, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating 971 additional locally infected COVID-19 cases, of which 477 were directly identified through nucleic acid tests and 494 via rapid antigen tests which were verified by authorities.

Separately, 76 additional imported cases were detected.

The centre received 147 reports of positive cases from schools. An infection cluster was found at Pui Ching Middle School where six students caught the virus.

One more case was found in RACKS CITY in Central, pushing its total number of infections to 23. While FLM bar on Jervois Street in Sheung Wan registered five more cases, bringing the total number of infections there to 33.

Due to a number of positive cases, 35 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice.

The mobile specimen collection station at Aberdeen Sports Centre will be relocated to the basketball court of Aberdeen Promenade tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Government made a restriction-testing declaration to cover Block 10 of Lung Mun Oasis in Tuen Mun. People in the restricted area are required to undergo compulsory testing before the specified deadline.

As there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several areas of Tsuen Wan, Kwun Tong and Wan Chai districts, the Housing Department and respective district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.
