The Environmental Protection Department today announced that it recorded 40 convictions for pollution offences in April.

Among the convictions, two were for water pollution, four for air and nine for noise pollution.

There were also 11 under the Public Cleansing & Prevention of Nuisances Regulation and 14 under the Waste Disposal Ordinance.

The heaviest fine for the month was $20,000 given to a person for discharging waste or polluting matter into a water control zone.
