Trial set for electric mobility devices

May 20, 2022

The Transport Department today said a six-month pilot trial concerning the use of electric mobility devices on the cycle track section at Pak Shek Kok between the MTR University Station and the Science Park will be held from May 23.

It explained that two main types of electric mobility devices, namely motorised personal mobility devices and power assisted pedal cycles, will be covered in the experimental trial.

Jointly held with the Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation, the research project aims to gather more operating experience on the use of the two types of electric mobility devices for short-distance commuting on a cycle track between a workplace and a transport hub.

Under a one-off arrangement, the department will issue a permit to registered trial participants to join the pilot trial. Those who did not pre-register are not allowed to join.
