60 more parks set for pets

April 18, 2022

The Government will open more than 60 Inclusive Parks for Pets across the city from April 21, enabling park users with or without pets to enjoy park facilities together in an inclusive environment.

This will bring the total number of such parks to over 100, the Leisure & Cultural Services Department said today.

To meet the public’s demands, the department on a trial basis opened six parks under its purview for citizens to enter and use with their pets in January 2019.

The trial scheme was a success, and the department regularised those six parks and provided another 35 Inclusive Park for Pets in various districts from February last year.

After consulting local stakeholders, more than 60 additional leisure venues across the city will be designated for use as inclusive parks starting April 21.

More than 20 of the additional parks are located at promenades or parks nearby to bring diversity to the harbourfront areas.

The department will provide dog excreta collection bins and hand-washing facilities for the convenience of pet owners and their pets in light of the actual circumstances. Cleaning work will also be stepped up.

When using the inclusive parks, owners should keep their dogs on a lead, make sure their pets are kept under proper control and are effectively restrained from causing a nuisance or danger to others, and clean up any mess caused by their pets.
