Che Kung Festival Fair cancelled

January 21, 2022

The 2022 Che Kung Festival Fair originally scheduled to take place from January 29 to February 15 at Chui Tin Street Soccer Pitch in Sha Tin will be cancelled, the Government announced today.

Considering that a large number of people may gather at the fair while there are still silent COVID-19 transmission chains in the community and risks of cluster outbreaks, the Government decided to call off the event in order to protect the health of stall owners and visitors, and reduce the risk of virus spread.

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department will inform the successful stall bidders of the decision in writing. Apart from fully refunding the stall licence fee in accordance with the licence agreement as soon as possible, the department will grant the licensees concerned an ex-gratia payment pitched at 50% of the stall licence fee under the fifth round of the Anti-epidemic Fund.

Earlier, the Government announced the cancellation of Lunar New Year fairs at 15 locations and the Fong Ma Po New Year Fair at Lam Tsuen in Tai Po this year.
