Jan exports up 44%

The value of Hong Kong’s total exports increased to $388 billion in January, up 44% compared with the same month last year, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.
The value of goods imports rose 37.7% to $413.2 billion year-on-year in the same month.
A trade deficit of $25.2 billion, or 6.1% of the value of imports, was recorded for the period.
Comparing the three-month period ending January with the preceding three months on a seasonally adjusted basis, the value of total exports increased by 9.7% while that of imports rose 11.5%.
