The Hospital Authority today said two COVID-19 patients have passed away, taking the number of COVID-19 patients who died in public hospitals to 168.

One of the patients, an 86-year-old woman with chronic disease, was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital on December 4 and transferred to North Lantau Hospital on December 28. She tested negative for COVID-19 on January 11 after treatment.

However, her condition deteriorated due to pneumonia and she passed away last night.

Another female patient, aged 90, also had chronic diseases and was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital's isolation ward on January 16. Her condition continued to worsen and she died this afternoon.
