$9.7m set for typhoon victims

January 25, 2021

The Government today approved $9.7 million for four relief agencies to help typhoon victims in the Philippines.

Oxfam Hong Kong was allocated $2.614 million, Plan International Hong Kong was granted $1.951 million, Hong Kong Red Cross $1.825 million, and Save the Children Hong Kong $3.31 million.

The grants will be used to provide hygiene, household and education kits, water purification items as well as shelter materials for about 57,750 victims.

Together with a grant approved earlier for this typhoon in the Philippines, $10.225 million in grants have been approved to benefit 67,750 victims.

To ensure the money is properly used, the relief agencies must submit evaluation reports and audited accounts after the relief projects are completed.
