$85m granted to laundry trade

September 25, 2020

The Anti-epidemic Subsidy Scheme for the Laundry Trade under the Anti-epidemic Fund has concluded with $85 million in subsidies approved, the Environment Bureau said today.

The Environmental Protection Department approved 1,387 applications and has posted cheques to the successful applicants.

The bureau noted that the scheme received positive feedback from the laundry trade and the number of applications received and subsidies granted were close to its estimation.

The timely completion of the scheme helped relieve the trade's imminent problems, including taking care of the livelihood of approximately 30% of their employees who are elderly, it added.

The scheme's hotline 3107 8403 will cease operation at 5pm on September 30, while its enquiry email box will continue to operate until October 30.
