Animal quarantine facility to launch

July 27, 2020

The New Territories South Animal Management Centre (NTSAMC) will be launched tomorrow as another quarantine facility for pets related to COVID-19 cases, the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department announced today.

It noted that in light of the latest COVID-19 developments, there has been a sharp increase in both the numbers of confirmed and close contact human cases that require pet owners to send their pets to the department for quarantine and veterinary monitoring.

The department explained that in order to cater to the situation, it needs to have more room.

All animals originally kept in the NTSAMC have been transferred to other animal management centres for follow-up and the NTSAMC will cease to receive any other animals until further notice.

The animal keeping facility at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port will only be used for quarantine and veterinary monitoring of animals that test positive for the COVID-19 virus.
