The Monetary Authority today said rumours about it implementing a new regulation to cap the daily amount of cash withdrawal from banks are totally fake and unfounded.

Th authority reiterated that the Hong Kong banking system is robust and sound, and banks have sufficient supply of banknotes to meet the public's needs.

It also urged the public to be vigilant about malicious rumours and verify information carefully.
