CS opens design expo

(December 02, 2015)

Chief Secretary Carrie Lam opened the Freeman Lau & Design: Inter-dependent Decisions exhibition at the Heritage Museum today.

Opening tomorrow, it will show selected works by renowned local designer Freeman Lau until May 30, showing the public his contributions to the design and creative industry as well as Hong Kong's cultural development.

Mrs Lam said the exhibition presents a comprehensive retrospective of Lau's work and offers a thought-provoking journey to visitors.

It also shows interviews with Lau and his mentors as well as other designers, artists, friends and partners who have provided support and interacted with him.

Over a creative career spanning 30 years, Lau has won more than 300 international and local awards. He has made significant contributions in enhancing the identity of Hong Kong design overseas and in promoting design education locally, and was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star in 2006.

Lau is now the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Design Centre and the Secretary General of the Hong Kong Federation of Design Associations.
