Tai O senior residents will stage their first-ever site-specific oral history theatre
Tai O, The Nostalgic Water Village on November 16 at three Tai O attractions - a stilt house, an old temple and a creek side.
The performance is part of the Community Oral History Theatre Project - Islands District (Tai O), which gathers personal experiences and recollections from Tai O's elderly residents through workshops, providing material for villagers to act out their own stories on stage.
The project was previously run in Sham Shui Po and Kwun Tong, and received positive responses. The Leisure & Cultural Services Department will run it again in Tai O to highlight the area's strong local character.
It encourages the elderly to be active in arts and cultural activities, with performances that help young people relate to previous generations.
The performances are conducted in Cantonese and last around an hour and 30 minutes, starting at 2.30pm. Admission is free, after registration by phone at 2591 1300 or by
email.
