Russian relics go on show

February 06, 2013
The largest display of Russian artefacts to be shown in Hong Kong opened today at the Heritage Museum.

Running until April 29, the Faberge: Legacy of Imperial Russia exhibition shows more than 200 pieces of jewellery and adornments once belonging to the Russian imperial family.

The exhibits, on loan from the Moscow Kremlin Museums and the Fersman Mineralogical Museum of Russia, were created between the late 19th century and the early 20th century.

Most famous of the treasures on show is the celebrated Faberge Easter eggs created for the Russian court.

Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing, Russian Consul-General Vladimir Kalinin and other guests opened the exhibition.

Mr Tsang said the exhibition marks the beginning of large scale cultural collaboration between Russia and Hong Kong.
