Pipa virtuoso to showcase indigenous tunes

November 05, 2012
Pipa virtuoso Wu Man will perform this month at City Hall with aboriginal musicians and singers from Taiwan.

Featuring a Paiwan tribe children's choir and the Bunun tribe's harvest prayer, or Pasibutbut, the concert presents a spiritual dialogue featuring the 2,000-year-old pipa instrument and the indigenous tunes of Taiwan's aboriginal music.

In advance of the concert, a performance by aboriginal musicians will be given on November 14 from 6pm to 6.30pm in the Cultural Centre Foyer. On the same day, Bunun musicians will join Wu Man to share their musical experiences in a talk and Q&A session held in the Administration Building of the Cultural Centre from 7.30pm to 9pm. Admission to both events is free.

Presented by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department, the concert will be staged at 8pm on November 15. Tickets are available at URBTIX.
