The Transformation of the Qipao exhibition will be held at Olympian City 2 from April 27 to June 10, showcasing a variety of qipao, ranging from the late Qing period to the present day.
Jointly presented by the Museum of History, the exhibition's highlights include items from former Chief Secretary Anson Chan, Secretary for Development Carrie Lam, Vera Waters, film celebrities Suet Nei and Lau Ching, and Chinese Arts & Crafts (HK).
Opening the exhibition today, Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Betty Fung said most of the qipao on show are new items in the museum's collection, being given their public debut.
"The exhibition is scheduled to coincide with Mother's Day. We hope more people will accompany their mothers to visit the exhibition, making it an enjoyable activity for the family."
A series of workshops, guided tours and demonstrations will be held. Anson Chan and Vera Waters will share their experiences in wearing qipao during a talk on April 29 and May 6 in the museum's lecture hall from 3pm to 5pm.
