'On Golden Pond' to return to stage

March 01, 2012
The local repertory theatre production "On Golden Pond" will return to the Hong Kong stage for a fourth run in April as part of the Hong Kong City Hall 50th anniversary programme.

The show tells the story of a retired professor with his lifelong partner. Their middle-aged and divorced daughter, who is estranged from her father, visits them at a lake called Golden Pond in the summer. The rift between the father and the daughter begins to close. The professor suffers a heart attack and the sense of imminent death is never more real, but this also makes the couple aware of how much they love each other.

"On Golden Pond" had six nominations in the 12th Hong Kong Drama Awards and won Best Leading Actor and Actress (Comedy/Farce). The last three runs in Hong Kong were performed nine years ago.

The production is being produced by the Hong Kong Federation of Drama Societies and will star Chung King-fai, Fung Wai-hang, Ko Tin-lung and Louise Lee.

The five shows will take place at 7.45pm from April 12 to 15 and at 2.45pm on April 14 at Hong Kong City Hall.

Tickets are $250 and $180 at URBTIX.
