The Hong Kong Film Archive will showcase Cantonese cinema director Lee Tit's work from October 23 to December 18.
The 15 selected films include Cantonese opera film classics "Butterfly & Red Pear Blossom" and two versions of "The Legend of Purple Hairpin"; the graceful work of Lee and writer-director Tong Tik-sang in "The Dream Encounter Between Emperor Wu of Han & Lady Wai"; "Girl in Red" and "The Warlord & the Beauty", featuring women of strong personalities; and social-realist drama in the Union Film classic "In the Face of Demolition" and "Father is Back".
Also showing are Lee's outstanding melodramas "Eternal Love", "The Ill-fated Girl", "Painstaking Lovers" and "Her Unrequited Love"; the crime film "Murderer in Town"; the thriller "We Want to Live"; and the jewel-thief film "Love at First Sight".
All films are in Cantonese without English subtitles.
