Labour Dept probes missing document
October 27, 2011
The Labour Department has informed the Police about a missing document containing personal data of 56 persons who have applied for employees’ compensation. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data has also been informed.
The department has started a thorough investigation and been contacting those affected to apologise.
The document was found missing on October 17 when the department’s officers were making preparations for meetings concerning work-related injuries to be held in Tuen Mun Hospital.
The department said the incident will not affect the injured people’s claims process nor the compensation to which they are entitled.
