Illegal banners endanger public safety

November 01, 2014

Fire Services Department Deputy Chief Fire Officer Leung Wai-hung warned today that illegally displayed giant banners endanger public safety and must be removed.

Two huge banners which were displayed in Tai Mo Shan and Fei Ngo Shan were taken down today.

Mr Leung told a press conference that displaying the banners was not authorised by the Country & Marine Parks Authority and had to be removed in accordance with the law.

Police Public Relations Branch Chief Superintendent Steve Hui also reminded people that hoisting banners without permission contravenes the Country Parks & Special Areas Regulations.

Police will act in accordance with the law to maintain public order, he added.
