Action taken to disperse protesters

(September 28, 2014)

The Police say protesters violently charged its cordon line outside the Central Government Offices, which is why officers escalated the use of force to stop such acts which endangered people's safety and order.

After issuing repeated warnings for protesters to leave that were ignored, officers decided to escalate the use of force and deploy tear gas.

The Police urged protesters to keep calm and exercise restraint and stop charging the cordon line. They were also asked to leave peacefully and in an orderly manner.

People are also advised to avoid Central, Admiralty and Wan Chai.
