Two arrested for drug offences

Customs officers arrested a woman after they seized about one kilogramme of suspected methamphetamine, or ice, she was carrying worth about $520,000 at Lok Ma Chau Control Point, and later arrested a man in her Sha Tin flat which contained drugs and drug-related devices.

 

The drug was found in a grocery bag she was carrying during passenger clearance just after midnight. Officers found another 13 grammes of the drug on her during a personal search.

 

In Sha Tin, they arrested a man inside her flat after they found about 80 milligrammes of suspected heroin and equipment used to inhale dangerous.

 

The woman, aged 50, who claimed to be jobless, will be charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug. The man, aged 51, who also claimed to be unemployed, will be jointly charged with the woman for possession of a dangerous drug and devices used to inhale dangerous drugs. The two will appear at Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts tomorrow.

 

Drug trafficking is a serious offence with a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a $5 million fine.
