The Buildings Department today served statutory orders to the owner of a unit in a Tsuen Wan industrial complex for violating building laws.
The unit was found to be illegally used for domestic purposes and unauthorised building works had been carried out in it.
The owner was required to discontinue domestic use, demolish the unauthorised structures and restore the affected areas according to the approved plan.
The building was designed and constructed for industrial use only. The land lease also specifies that the land should be used for general industrial or godown purposes.
The Lands Department therefore issued a warning letter ordering the owner of the unit to rectify the breach.
In view of the seriousness of using industrial units for domestic purposes, the Government will consider taking further lease enforcement actions.
The departments will inspect other units in the building.
