Secretary for Transport & Housing Prof Anthony Cheung says three busy MTR interchange stations at Mong Kok, Prince Edward and Admiralty will be retrofitted with public toilets by the end of next year.
In a written reply to a lawmaker’s question today, Prof Cheung said 41 of the 83 stations operating daily have public toilets. The 10 interchange stations without public toilets will receive them during major refurbishment projects, he said, noting seven of them - including Tsim Sha Tsui Station, Yau Ma Tei Station, Lai King Station, Central Station, North Point Station, Yau Tong Station and Tiu Keng Leng Station - will provide public toilets by the end of 2020.
The MTR is also adding 54 more wide gates for passengers with special needs, and is providing another 326 benches at station platforms as part of its "Listening • Responding" programme, he said.
