MTR fares to increase

Fares for the MTR, Light Rail and MTR Buses will increase 2.7% overall from June 30.The rise is 0.5% lower than the original 3.2% calculated under the Fare Adjustment Mechanism formula.
When implemented, 73% of domestic passenger trip fares, excluding cross-boundary trips, will increase by no more than 20 cents.
The MTR will offer fare promotions for 2013-2014, including an enhanced monthly pass programme, a new Tung Chung - Nam Cheong Monthly Pass Extra, a 10% Same-Day Second-Trip Discount and the MTR City Saver for frequent long and medium-distance travelers.
