NT project to serve HK people
September 22, 2012
Secretary for Development Paul Chan said the Northeast New Territories New Development Area project is to serve Hong Kong people, and will include ‘Hong Kong property for Hong Kong residents' conditions.
Speaking to the media after attending a radio programme today, Mr Chan stressed the project is for Hong Kong people, not for Mainlanders to live or to shop.
He said the Government is studying the plot ratio and conditions for the policy that will restrict flat sales to Hong Kong people only.
He said assets tests would apply to squatter residents and villagers who want to live in public rental housing, adding the rental units are for the needy.
Mr Chan said adjustments would be made for the public-private residential property development ratio.
