Hung Hom Promenade opens
September 03, 2011
The Hung Hom Promenade and the Extension of Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade opened today, offering the public more access to the magnificent views of Victoria Harbour.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Secretary for Development Carrie Lam said the Government has strived to enhance the harbour-front in recent years, creating promenades on both sides of Victoria Harbour to provide more open space for public enjoyment.
“This 500-metre long promenade linking the harbour frontages of Tsim Sha Tsui and Hung Hom has opened up a section of the Hung Hom waterfront which used to be closed to the public. Members of the public can go to Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade and Star Avenue via this section of the promenade and the footbridge next to Salisbury Road,” Mrs Lam said. “This four-kilometre long waterfront promenade stretching from the Star Ferry Pier in Tsim Sha Tsui to Laguna Verde in Hung Hom is now fully connected.”
Maps showing details of the new promenade are available free of charge at the Public Enquiry Service Centres of all District Offices and the Tourism Board’s Visitor Centres.
