Salt, sugar label scheme launched

Launching the "Salt/Sugar" Label Scheme for Prepackaged Food Products today, Chairman of the Committee on Reduction of Salt & Sugar in Food Bernard Chan encouraged the trade to provide more low-salt and low-sugar food products for the public.
The scheme is jointly organised by the Committee on Reduction of Salt & Sugar in Food, the Food & Health Bureau and the Centre for Food Safety.
The labels can be displayed on the prepackaged products that fulfil the definitions of "low salt", "no salt", "low sugar" and "no sugar" under the Food & Drugs (Composition & Labelling) Regulations.
The labels are available in Chinese, English and bilingual versions.
