Swordfish item fails safety check

August 04, 2017

The Centre for Food Safety has found excessive mercury in a batch of fried swordfish floss imported from Taiwan.

A sample of T HAM fried swordfish floss from a Tsim Sha Tsui supermarket was tested under the centre's routine food surveillance system.

The product's net weight is 160g per tin with a use-by date of January 9, 2018.

The centre urged the public not to consume the product and the food trade should stop selling or using it.

The vendor was instructed to stop sale and remove the product from shelves.

The centre is tracing the source and distribution of the product.
