The Centre for Food Safety banned the import of poultry, frozen and chilled meat from Brazil today.
The centre has contacted the Brazilian authorities regarding reports on the sale of rotten Brazilian meat.
Inspections on Brazilian meat imports will be strengthened to safeguard public health, it added.
The centre advises people to cook meat thoroughly before consumption.
