The Centre for Food Safety announced today it has found the saturated fatty acids content in a prepackaged mooncake sample was inconsistent with the declared value on its nutrition label.
The Kee Wah Bakery’s White Lotus Seed Paste Mooncake is from Hong Kong, packed in four pieces per box with an expiry date of October 14, 2016.
The centre collected a sample of the mooncake from a retail outlet in Mong Kok. It found the sample contained saturated fatty acids of 2.7g per 100g, inconsistent with the declared content of 1.297g per 100g.
The vendor stopped selling the affected batch after being informed by the centre of the irregularity.
