More influenza A cases confirmed

Locally, a six-year-old boy and an 85-year-old woman were confirmed to have influenza A, while two more human cases of avian influenza A (H7N9) were confirmed in the Mainland.
 
The local boy has had underlying illnesses and has had cold symptoms since January 15. He tested positive for influenza A virus when he attended a private hospital today and was sent to Tuen Mun Hospital's Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.
 
He was treated for shock and convulsions and is now in stable condition.
 
The senior woman has had respiratory symptoms and is being treated under isolation and is in stable condition.
 
The Mainland H7N9 patients are from Shandong and Jiangxi. 
 
According to the the Mainland health authorities’s latest reports, the Shandong patient is a 60-year-old man who worked in Jiangsu before he became ill, while the Jiangxi patient is a 34-year-old man who was hospitalised for treatment in critical condition.
