All Taiwan eggs banned

(January 12, 2015)

The Centre for Food Safety has banned all egg imports from Taiwan due to avian influenza outbreaks.

The decision was made today after outbreaks were reported in two more counties.

Egg imports from Penghu, Hualien, Yilan and Pingtung Counties were banned by the centre earlier.

Hong Kong imports a small quantity of poultry eggs from Taiwan.

The centre will monitor the situation.
