The additional enhancement works at Hong Kong Velodrome will be completed at the end of January after which the facilities will be reopened for use, the Leisure & Cultural Services Department says.
Responding to media enquiries today, it said the works, costing $4.2 million, started in late November.
The department has gauged the opinions of the Hong Kong Cycling Team on the venue and cycling track since the Velodrome opened, and decided to further enhance the facilities.
The Velodrome was built in accordance with the International Cycling Union's standards for indoor facilities.
Two international competitions have been held successfully since the track opened in April, and the Hong Kong Cycling Team and professional international athletes have recognised the track is built to international standards, the department added.
